March has been a busy month for the Estelí Women's School. On March 8th students and teachers celebrated the International Women's Day. And a total of 130 women students of low income families received a mathematics handbook, thanks to a donation from "Casa Pueblito".

In March 2018 we started another year of sewing classes in coordination with the "Escuela de Oficio Hugo Chavez Frías" of Estelí's municipal authorities.
Two groups of around 20 women come on Saturday: one group in the morning and one group in the afternoon. One group of 11 advanced students comes on Friday afternoon.
Sones Segovianos started a new successful year of music, dance and art classes with a total of 125 students, which is a record for the program.

This week we received the visit of two psychologist from the Boston area: Lyn Styczynski and Len Greenberg.
They are giving a workshop to psychology and social work students from Nicaragua's National Autonomous University (UNAN) in Estelí, and to people from the Ministry of the Family and from the Health Ministry. The goal is to create a coordination between these institutions in order to give better follow up to cases of domestic violence.
From February 26th to March 2nd we received a dental brigade from Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine.
One part of the brigade gave pediatric dental care in the health center "Leonel Rugama". Another part of the brigade went to the different preschools to apply the three monthly fluoride varnish to children's teeth.

A new course of computer skills training started in February 2018.
In February a new school year started at the Estelí Women's School with around 160 students.
This year the Ministry of Education implemented a new education plan for the accelerated baccalaureate program. This plan requires four years in order to obtain a baccalaureate degree (before only two years). Students who started the accelerated program last year, get the opportunity to finish their baccalaureate this year under the old educational plan.
