On September 8th and 9th Superemos hosted a training workshop organized by the Aid for Nicaragua Association of Japan. The workshop was given by two solar technology specialists assisted by two colleagues. A total of 12 people were taught by the educators from Japan how to make a solar panel.

With funding from the Central American Fund for Human Development based in Illinois and the Global Education Fund based in New Mexico, Superemos organized a week-long teacher training in Condega that took place in the third week of July.

Condega is a rural town about 40km north of Estelí. 35 teachers took part from rural schools around Condega and also from the town of Condega itself.

The training was coordinated with the municipal delegate of the Ministry of Education. The trainers were provided by the Estelí Women's school and the Educavida training organization.

Superemos was lucky to have two students from Texas, Victoria Clarke and Elizabeth Rettinger, visit during July. They took some film of the Estelí women's school and talked to some of our students. The video gives a good idea of the importance of our adult baccalaureate programme to women on low incomes struggling to do their best for their families. The video is subtitled in English.

Now the rains have started students from the Esteli Women's School Sunday classes are helping reforest the river as part of their natural science classes. The local municipal authority donated 200 trees to the school for replanting along the river adjacent to teh Superemos project site. Natural Science teacher Gustavo Sanabria worked with his students on June 5th to plant a total of 100 trees in an area fenced off to protect the trees form damage.
