Early in July, the music and dance students gave an end of semester concert. The music school currently has 34 students between the ages of 8 and 15. The dance classes have 26 students between the ages of 6 and 12..

Through July and August, Superemos worked with local institutions including the Ministry of the Family, Adolescents and Children to organize a series of five workshops helping participants develop better techniques to assist in the resolution of family conflicts. The workshops were coordinated with the Ministry of the Family by the ICES programme which is an initiative supported by Superemos to address domestic violence. It is funded by the Central American Fund for Human Development of Illinois,USA and the Dorchester House Multi Service Center of Boston, USA.
During May and June this year, Superemos hosted a visit by four post-graduate students from Boston University to study the possible effects of pesticides on the health of local communities in the Miraflor area of the municipality of Estelí as part of their programme of study for their Masters qualification. On July 16th this year, our dear friend Bob Barr died after a long illness.

In March this year the "Christine King" Multi Service Cooperative was able to begin art classes for young children aged between six and twelve years old as an addition to the existing music and dance classes of Sones Segovianos. This programme is funded by the Casa Canadiense, a Canadian funded community development group based in Managua, Nicaragua's capital. |
Our beloved friend Daysi Flores Toruño died on May 20th this year. Daysi was president of the "Christine King" Multi Service Cooperative for three years between 2005 and 2008.
This was a very important period in the development of the cooperative.
2014 was an important year for Superemos with the foundation supporting new activities while also developing and improving already existing programmess. Thanks to help from our friends and supporters we were also able to remodel the main school building.
The new activities included hosting a public health research project carried out by students from Boston University's School of Dental Medicine and School of Public Health, in close coordination with Nicaragua's Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education.

This year the Estelí Women's school changed its timetable so as to substitute extra night classes on Thursday and Friday nights for the mixed Sunday classes. We made this change taking into account the effects on our teaching staff of working what for most people is a rest day. Together with the remodelling of the main school building the change in the timetable has created a more easygoing and agreeable pace of work for both our students and the teaching staff. The women's only classes continue on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights.
