| The bakery's new area was funded by the Central American Fund for Human Development. The building work finished in early June. The project has been in operation for about three months now. Several local people with baking skills use the facility to produce various kinds of breads and pastries for sale by the cooperative. One of the bakers travels from Palacaguina, about 60 kilometres away, twice a week to earn some valuable supplementary income. José, seen here at work, lives locally in Estelí. We look forward to visits from our friends who support these projects so they get to sample the results. As with all the cooperative's production projects, the bakery offers training to local people as well as producing produce for the cooperative to sell. |
