Progress remodelling the project centre ready for 2016

We have worked hard through December to rearrange the various office, classroom and work spaces at the project centre. In part, this work has been necessary to replace defective structures. But also we have put a lot of thought into making the project centre more functional, attractive and usable. This work is also part of our planning for future sustainability in the sense that with better classroom spaces and general facilities, the multi service cooperative will be able to improve the quality of the activities it offers and thus improve its ability to generate more income as well as maintaining its community programmes funded by donations.

preparing access to the new classroom in the lower area of the project centre

the kitchen will be extended by a little over one metre

the partition structure to separate access to the new lower area classroom from the main area classrooms

new metal gates to help secure the main classroom area when the site is not in use

the new classroom structure is of metal perlins which will also replace almost all the old timber roof structures

the floor structure of the new classoom area is designed  mainly for the dance classes

raising the floor level also minimizes the possibility of future flood damage

the new classroom area is at the same level as the middle classroom area in the background

the new classroom area benefits from the shade of trees across its southern elevation

access to the new dispensary area

we have almost doubled the size of the old metal workshop, now used by the solar energy project

we are renewing the structure of the women's shelter facilities

the welders have almost finished the new roof structure for the extended kitchen

th new roof is going up mostly independent of the existing kitchen walls

the new roof span is over eight metres so we are using steel perlins with a thickness of an eighth of an inch

trees screen the kitchen area from the adjacent Pan American HIghway

work progresses quickly with two welders

the new work surface for the bakery which will be tiled

the door to the new dispensary area

new walls for the women's shelter

the new roof for the women's shelter
