In July this year Superemos and Sones Segovianos hosted what is thought to be the first Nicaragua Guitar Congress. The event was organized by Edward Grigassy of Texas and brought together guitarists from all over Nicaragua and also guitar teachers from El Salvador, Guatemala, and the United States. The purpose of the Congress was to enhance guitar playing skills in general in Nicaragua and the region and, specifically, to advance guitar teaching methodology among the Congress participants. In these two videos Dr. Michael Quantz of the University of Texas at Brownsville conducts two ensemble pieces for advanced guitarists. We at Superemos appreciate very much the hard work and commitment of Edward Grigassy and Dr Michael Quantz in making the event possible in the first place and we are also pleased to acknowledge the encouragement and support of the Nicaraguan Institute of Culture, the local municipal authority and many local and national cultural organizations.
En julio de este año Fundación Superemos y Sones Segovianos fue huésped de lo que se piensa fuera el primer Congreso de la Guitarra de Nicaragua. El evento fue organizado por Edward Grigassy de Texas y reunió guitarristas de toda Nicaragua y también profesores de guitarra de Guatemala, El Salvador y los Estados Unidos. El propósito del Congreso fue de avanzar las habilidades de guitarra en general en Nicaragua y la región pero, específicamente, de avanzar el dominio metodológico de las y los profesores de guitarra que participaron en el Congreso. En estos dos videos el Dr. Michael Quantz de la Universidad de Texas en Brownsville conduce dos piezas de ensamble para guitarristas avanzadas. La Fundación Superemos aprecia muchísimo el trabajo y compromiso de Edward Grigassy y de Dr Michael Quantz para hacer este Congreso posible y también apreciamos el apoyo del Instituto Nicaragüense de Cultura, la Alcaldía de Estelí y muchas organizaciones culturales a nivel local y nacional..
