Thanks to help from the Dorchester House Multi Service Center in Boston, Superemos has been able to contribute US$4000 to the rehabilitation of an area in Esteli's San Juan de Dios hospital to accommodate patients receiving haemodialysis in what is the only renal unit serving the whole of north central Nicaragua. The unit serves a total of around 50 patients who are receiving haemodialysis. Of those, between 15 to 20 travel from remote communitieis and generally arrive the day before their treatment. All these patients require haemodialysis twice a week. So even the cost of transport for them and their accompanying relatives is significant. By providing patients with adequate overnight accommodation, the local health authority has ensured that they get the best out of their treatment. We are very grateful to everyone at Dorchester House in Boston for making this important improvement to the local health service in Esteli possible.
