We have been very busy preparing the site for the activities in 2011. The ceramic workshop is now operating normally in the new space we were able to build thanks to help from the Nicaraguan government flood relief fund. That funding of US$3000 also helped us rebuild a multi-use classroom space that we can later adapt for other activities too. We have installed new sanitary facilities to replace the old latrines and generally tried to make the site as attractive as possible for the everyone who takes part in the many community and education activities here.
Secondary education classes start on February 6th. Also in February, the cooperative is organizing a teacher training workshop together for local teachers who want to learn the participatory teaching methodology promoted by the Global Education Fund. The community preschools started work again early in January. We'll post photos of those activities later on. We are very grateful to everyone who helped us through the difficult period after the flooding last year. We hope these photos show how hard we have tried not just to get the site back as it was but to make it better.
